Who we Are History
Registered non profit cardiac support group. 1995 - Start the hospital healthy heart program ( Phase II, Phase III)
Burnaby cardiac patients looking for maintenance program after being released from the hospital program. 1998 - Phase IV classes started at Bonsor ( maintenance for life program )
Over 200 members across 8 facilities. 1998-2003 - Community program ( phase IV ) run by F.I.T.T Cardiac Association.
Plan, organize and run annual Rhythm of Life (ROL) event 2003 - Community program went back under the umbrella of the Burnaby hospitals health heart program
Support group for cardiac patients 2003 - 2016 - F.I.T.T. continue work with Burnaby Hospital,  Fraser Health and Burnaby hospital foundation as a volunteer organization in fund raising ( Rhythm of life, Big Bike ), social events ,and administrative activities, etc
Supervised and monitored by ACSM / CSEP professionals. Sept 2016 -   Fraser Health and Burnaby Foundation withdrew their services relating to the Healthy Heart - Phase IV maintenance for Life.
At this time, Burnaby Parks and Recreation took over classes at Bonsor and Confederation. Vancouver classes by the Vancouver Parks and Recreation.
Association is self sustaning  
Grants and donations help supplement additional healthy heart programs (eg. Hearts on the mend (HOTM)).  


What does F.I.T.T. stand for?

Stands for: (frequency, intensity, time, and type) is one way to remember the general guidelines for what should be included in a fitness plan. Remember, it's important to keep in mind that each family member's fitness goals will be different based on age, sex, current fitness level, and available resources.
